Sherida was born in Gulfport, Mississippi. Her childhood revolved around animals; she always studied them and had notebooks full of notes! After working as a Veterinary Technician for many years, she now serves as the Office Manager at Happy Tails.
Sherida’s veterinary career began in 2001 when she started working at a Mississippi clinic. She switched to a different clinic the next year, then most recently came to Happy Tails in 2013. She truly enjoys her coworkers, pet owners, and hearing the pet stories from the clients she sees. Lab work is another area of interest for her, as is learning about organ function.
At home, Sherida owns many dogs: Millie, a miniature poodle; Peebles, a teacup Chihuahua; Dimples, also a teacup Chihuahua; Ditto, a boxer; Jasmine, a pitbull; Flounder a mix; and Gauge who Sherida rescued from his previous owner. She also has too many rescue cats to list!
Outdoor activites like fishing and camping are Sherida’s favorite hobbies. She also likes horse racing, Nascar, and football. She’s also gotten into wildlife rehabilitation in the past seven years and finds it extremely rewarding!
Joe has always wanted to help other people, and he knew how much joy animals could bring into others’ lives. What better way to show his compassion, Joe thought, than by helping animals himself? Now he’s enjoyed a 30-year career in veterinary medicine!
Joe’s veterinary journey started at the SPCA, where he was first exposed to animal care. He was brought here to Happy Tails Animal Hospital by one of the veterinarians, and couldn’t be happier to serve the pets and animal owners of the D’lberville area. Joe and his grandson live with several dogs of their own. When he isn’t tending to their needs or caring for animals here at the clinic, Joe enjoys singing and performing as a singer-songwriter. He’s even written a complete album!
Originally from Pennsylvania, Mary was in the Coast Guard for a number of years. After she left, she was in need of a job and remembered a shipmate telling her about working at a vet clinic while he was in college. Mary applied at one and started her veterinary career!
Now, Mary has worked at six veterinary clinics in four states. After seven years of kennel work, she’s currently focusing on the veterinary technician side of things and currently works as a Veterinary Assistant at Happy Tails. She says the work week would seem empty without seeing furry patients!
Mary enjoys working with diagnostics tools – especially radiography. As Mary works with many older pets, she loves to use these diagnostic tools to make sure she properly identifies any discomfort the senior pets she cares for might be feeling. This helps Mary know she is providing the best care and comfort to the elder pets who visit us.
Mary is married and has two step-children. In her free time she likes to spend as much time as possible with them. Her family also has two cats that have been with Mary for 11 years, Leroy and Lefty. She also keeps a few chickens!
Bonnie has enjoyed the company of animals for as long as she can remember, and she’s always wanted to work toward a better world for them. She serves as a Veterinary Technician here at Happy Tails Animal Hospital and can’t imagine doing anything else!
Bonnie is originally from Scotland, and it was there that she began her veterinary journey as a volunteer. After moving to California, she continued her work in animal care before relocating to Mississippi. Bonnie joined the Happy Tails Animal Hospital family in May of 2015 thanks to the referral of another veterinarian.
Around the clinic, Bonnie enjoys examining slides under the microscope—it’s a fascinating view into an entirely different world! She also loves the overwhelming rewards of critical care work, and strives every day to keep her coworkers and clients happy with her positive, fun-loving attitude.
I grew up always having animals around the house. I have always carried a passion to help and care for animals. In my free time I love to hang out with family and friends and enjoy anything with sand and water. I am currently in nursing school so this is time well spent. Almost like a vacation at work. I love the daily challenge of the different types of animals we see. Though I am currently pursuing a career in human medicine I am sure I will always carry a passion to help our furry and scaly animals.
When she was young, Kelly would bring home every stray dog or cat she could find. She always had a deep passion for the welfare of animals, and knew in her heart that working with pets was her true calling. Now she gets to care for the animals and pet owners of the area here at Happy Tails Animal Hospital!
Born and raised in Illinois, Kelly moved to Arizona with her family as a young girl, then relocated to Mississippi in 2010. Her veterinary journey began back in Arizona when she signed up at a local animal hospital as a kennel assistant. After a year, she moved into a receptionist position and remained there for the next eight years. Upon coming to Mississippi, Kelly began working at another local hospital before joining the Happy Tails Animal Hospital family.
In her time away from the hospital, Kelly and her husband enjoy boating, fishing, camping, spending time with friends and family, and doting on their pets. They have five dogs—Marley, Shorty, Tobie, Layla Sue, and Sadie Mae—and also take care of several stray cats in the area.
